dear baby hugh: i wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to the world. when i asked your big brother finn what you’ve been up to, he said that you’ve been crying a lot. i hope this is just a phase. mommy does too. you lucked out in the brother department, finn’s one of the sweetest boys ever. he’s a very fast runner and he likes books and riding his bike. his favorite movie is shrek and just between you and i, he is easily bribed with m & m’s. i mean, just in case you need something one day. mommy is one of the funniest people i know, she’s pretty too. she’s feeling a little tired lately though, so if you could find it in your heart to sleep just a tad bit more, i know she’d be grateful. you’re going to really like your daddy. if you forget which one he is, just look in the mirror and add hair. you look a lot alike. he’s an attorney, impressive i know. you’ve got good genes kid. enjoy this place, we’re certainly enjoying having you here.

she’s here and she’s scrumptious. the newest member of our family anna michael, or annie p as her brother calls her and is quickly catching on. i’ve spent this week in va snuggling her, kissing her soft skin, rubbing her little mohawk and being amazed by the way we are all captivated by the way she does ‘nothing’ so perfectly.

she looks a lot my sister did as a baby. i'm sure as the months go on we'll notice lots more similarities to jordan as well, but one thing that is undeniable.. she's got her daddy's big toe.

steph has been hoping for a little girl for a long time, so i knew we had to get some pics of just the two of them.

this is will. he's 2. he's delicious. when i showed him this picture and asked him what he was doing he said, "dat my happy face."

these next four are some of my very favorites. i'm just going to let you breathe in her beauty instead of trying to translate it into words.

i am not the kind of girl who dreads monday. i love a fresh start. i love the rain and the way it washes things clean. i love to organize closets and drawers because of the new order it creates. i love new lists of to do’s written on crisp white paper and how all of the little squares are just sitting and waiting for their check mark. i start to get antsy when my shampoo bottle begins running low because i can hardly wait to put a new, full one in its place. as you can see, i’m also very cool.

babies are the best kind of fresh start. their skin is unblemished by the sun who warms and consequently wrinkles it. they’ve never spoken an unkind word or hurt anyone’s feelings. they don’t have an agenda or any hidden motives. meet baby gray. we don’t know what his voice will sound like or if his favorite toy will be a car or blocks. not sure if he’ll be into music or science, soccer or boy scouts. the world is his for the taking. and lucky david, allyson and paige that they get to watch it all unfold.

the last time we photographed these brothers, there was only two of them. now, i know that the bigger boys love little max, but when asked who wanted to hold him, they pointed to each other. i am the oldest of three girls and so i have some insight into how this whole thing is going to go down. don’t let this small rejection bring you down baby max. life is going to be a cakewalk for you. once the baby always the baby. your wish is their command. owen, being the middle child you will use all of your funny bunny charms to entertain and make people laugh and get out of ever really helping. people will want to continually ensure that you don’t feel left out since you’re not the baby anymore and so with a bat of those envy inducing lashes, you’ll be scott free. (yeah, stephanie, i said it.) cooper, being the oldest, you are always going to have to hold him. you are always going to have to be the example and ‘keep an eye on him’ when you’d rather your eyes be focused on tv. but do not dismay, there are many advantages. all of this time spent caring for your brother, comes with a huge payoff. like when he’s eating ice cream you can convince him that the chocolate chips are poisonous and just for him, you’ll take care of them. (poor little trusting, gullible kristen.) and you get to do everything first. you’ll date first, drive first, graduate first and ship off to college first. and then you can call your brothers and laugh because they still have a curfew. yes friend, being the oldest comes with its perks.

mark wasn't all that excited to do pictures of just he and nikki but i'm so glad he gave in to my pleading. i love these.

i want to stir him into my coffee. I LOVE HIM!!

nikki said she thought max looked like a snowbaby in this hat and i couldn't agree more. so flippin' cute.

mia, collin, trevor & harrison {the movie}

we met this adorable and high energy family on the set of waxhaw’s main street. when they started piling out of their car we quickly realized hair and makeup weren’t going to be necessary because they were perfect just how they were. and costume chages? no way, they had the BEST winter hats on already. now before we get to the script dilemma, let me introduce you to the cast. first..

mia: the beautiful and independent little diva

collin: the blue eyed funny man

trevor: the sweet and insightful boy

and baby harrison:the heartbreaker. he can play dramatic roles

or comedic roles. he's very layered.

and here are the executive producers: mommy & daddy

trevor thought we should go with a mystery as our script. he'd wear a moustache as his disguise.

but collin insisted that what people really want during these difficult times is comedy. and then he went all jim carrey on us.

the fashion savvy mia disagreed completely and suggested we go more national geograhic

101 dalmations is where it's at thought harrison and then performed the world's most perfect drool.

this was going to be tricky. so many good ideas and not enough time. we decided to take a little break and see if we could observe the family and try to find out something they all could get on board with. let's see...what do you like to do together?

we observed lots of laughing and snuggling

plenty of mommy and daddy interactions

'we've got it', the kids shouted. 'beautiful, loyal and loving family that sticks together..let us get our props.

and then much to our delight, they rocked out the tracks sopranos style

our work here is done. we love our job. aaaaaaand..that's a wrap!

newborns are pretty amazing. it’s the way they smell like hope and new beginnings. it’s the way they can’t speak or do any tricks but have this ability to captivate an audience just by being. and it’s the power that a boy who weighs only 6 pounds has to turn a full grown man into mush.

i love this morning light. but more than that, i love how they can't keep their lips off of him

time for a little wardrobe change. umm..he was not a fan.

right before i took this last picture, i lowered my camera and stared. i was struck by the way joey's chin rested on his beautiful wife's shoulder and his hand rubbed his little man's head. even though i was pretty sure that i knew the answer, i asked if right at this moment they were thinking, 'life has never been this sweet.' they didn't take their eyes off their little love but answered yes. i raised my camera and adjusted my exposure. snap.

i love when my clients pick a spot that means something to them for their shoot. somewhere they are comfortable, relaxed and feel most like themselves. on this particular day, queens college was just that spot. this totally precious family came ready to play. enjoy a super sized post of a family that made my heart grow to a super size when we were together.

i spy with my little blue eye someone itty bitty. someone with rosebud colored lips and fresh new skin. someone who has a big sister that loves to sing to her and make silly faces to quiet her crying. i spy someone who is sweet tempered and whose sparkle-y eyes are wide and alert. someone who just a couple of weeks ago turned a family of three into a family of four. someone named evie.
