it’s all so beautiful. the way the sunshine and his lips are gently kissing her head. the way she didn’t flinch when he suggested that they use his beloved car for a picture or two. the comfortable way that he pulls her in close and rests his hand on her belly..the space where his daughter and his son (yes, twins!) are preparing for their debut. oh, carey and her belly are so lovely and it’s crazy to think that there are two babies living and growing in there! crazy beautiful, that is.

they are not afraid to work it

it will be a serious crime if one of these babies doesn't inherit carey's dimples

i’ve been holding off as long as i can to post this because i still don’t have my favorite pictures from this shoot. i had some corruption on my card that these images were taken on and so when i try to upload them into my computer, only half of them come up. i don’t mean half as in the quantity sense, i mean HALF the picture. like, you took a pair of scissors to it. ugh. i am in the process of attempting to recover them but it takes awhile. so, if it works out (fingers crossed) i’ll show you my absolute favs soon.

amy has lots of friends. you can’t grab a cup of coffee or meet her for dinner without multiple people stopping by your table to say hello to her. it’s easy to understand why. she’s laugh out loud funny and willing to be the brunt of all of her jokes. being around her is organic and sweet and life giving. she’s good for the soul. she’s good for my soul. she’s the kind of friend who is always reminding you of how delightful she finds your imperfections. this is very good news for a girl like me. sometimes i’m not sure why she loves me like she does. we’re so different. she’s all i buy my clothes at goodwill and still look cool and jen, you should really bring your own mug to starbucks for the sake of the earth. and i’m much more jeans for only $150, what a steal and oh, i can’t wait until starbucks is serving my latte in the red christmas cup. she’s a little bit of a hippie..tatooed and pierced, unashamed and free. i’m cautious, afraid to pierce my nose and all too often bound by the rules that this world has laid out for me. but sometimes i tiptoe into the light she creates just so i can get a tiny feel of what it’s like to be her. and for a short time after i leave, i feel brave and interesting and smell like patchouli. for the record, the only redeeming quality about the smell of patchouli, is that it reminds me of my friend. amy and adam are having a baby. it’s a girl. i hope she’s brave like amy. i hope she walks into a room and likes who she is. i hope she has adam’s laugh and his hair. i hope she has his love of knowledge and his love of amy.

dear baby, your daddy loves books. like looooves them. it's ok if you'd rather play with dolls, or kick around a soccer ball for fun. but every once in awhile, could you throw him a little secret garden or narnia action? it would make him really happy.

i am in love with this next picture of adam. this is one of those times when whether he means to or not, he shows you who he was as a little boy way back when.

dear baby girl, first let me apologize for the impersonal way that i’ll be addressing you, it’s just that your name hasn’t been announced yet. it’s not that your mommy and daddy haven’t agreed upon one, it’s just that until you burst into this world, it’s only theirs to know. like a little love note that is for their eyes only, at least for now. let me introduce myself, my name is jen and i took some of your very first pictures the other day. you did great. it has to be said, that your mommy has given you a very beautiful space to live in and grow right now. her belly, ahem..your home, photographs amazingly from every angle. let me show you what i mean..

oh, that hand? that's your daddy. you're really going to like him. he's very handsome and just plain cool. i hope you get his hair. he has great hair.

yes, that is your gorgeous mommy. she loves yoga. it's like exercise and meditation wrapped into one. if you look in the background, you can see those people showing you how it's done.

oh, i'm sorry baby. that was insensitive of me. i know your eyes are not that strong yet, let me show you some yoga that is a little closer. this position is called tree.

they do that often, that kissing thing. i'm sure your face will be very familiar with that feeling. sometimes when he kisses her, it makes mommy laugh.

i almost forgot, that's your dog shiva. there's a good chance she'll lick your face and steal your food but it's a small price to pay for a built in pal. i hope she only chews up your least favorite toys.

with parents that look like this, you are destined to be a stunner. and those eyes..oh, i hope you get your mommy's eyes.

just finished shooting a beautiful wedding this weekend in ohio and arrived in virginia tonight for some time with the family. i wanted to post a few pics of this beautiful mama before i laid my head down to sleep. i’m hoping to dream about vacationing on a sandy beach in figi, while eating a caramel apple drizzled in chocolate and pecan pieces. and if in this dream, david beckham is my cabana boy…i could live with that.

in my little world, she’s kind of a big deal. when she answers the phone she sort of sings your name in a happy tune like there’s no one she’d rather hear from. she has this way of pulling everything together and making it look effortless. she likes fresh flowers and fresh fruit and is an expert soup maker. she’s always lovely, but especially now. especially with a little love growing in her tiny belly. (seriously, some of these pictures i had to ask her to hold her breath so that you could tell she was pregnant.) she’s thoughtful and sweet, creative and compassionate and in less than a month, she is going to be a mama. behold some of my favorite people on the planet, heather and darren. i just realized that i didn’t say anything about darren but it’s not for lack of affection. i’ll keep it short, chris has a major crush on him and i capital ‘L’ove him.
