i love how every home tells a story. it’s a visual journal of the people who sleep there and the people who just pass through for a cup of coffee or a game of spades. i hope the story that my home tells, reads a little something like this:
this is a place where kisses and laughter are in abundance. it’s a spot where you’re free to be yourself and messy hair and makeup free faces are highly encouraged. fingerprints on the windows and stainless appliances are welcome here, especially if they’re little. there are no ‘do not touch’ signs around this place, so get comfy. we’re kind of quirky and that’s why our bathroom is wallpapered in brown grocery bags and we use an old ladder as a magazine rack. my laundry room says, ‘this chick hates to fold clothes’ and it’s the spot that is least visited. these walls hold tales of breakfasts in bed and shared pillowtalk dreams. they’ve heard bad jokes, even worse singing, words that couldn’t be taken back, and cries over unanswered prayer. if you saw our tv, you’d know our house says we’d rather play a game and have an amazing game closet at the end of our hallway to prove it. if you’re thirsty please feel free to open my fridge and grab a drink. you’ll probably find these choices: skim milk, tangerine mango orange juice, gatorade, pellegrino, and coronas. and if you look below, you’ll see where you can find a lime. it’s an old grocery store scale and it makes me happy every time i pass it.

this old convenient store sign decorates or kitchen wall. it's one of chris' favorite things in our house.

an old oil can is the perfect thing to hold my rings. i was inspired by an anthropologie display for this one.

i love books and have them in every room in my house. we bought this old locker which holds some good reads in our living room.

now to the second part of this post. i have this photo fantasy where i take pictures of people simply living. i want to see you and your house and i want to photograph you baking cookies, building leggo castles, piled on your bed reading books, on your front porch drinking wine, playing football in the backyard, whatever you and your family do together. why? because that's the good stuff. the real stuff. my mom, sisters and i used to sit by this old heater that blew out warm air and read books together when i was a little girl. oh, how i'd love just one picture of us with our footed pjs and our pile of dr. suess books. so, let me know if i can spend a few hours with you at your house capturing you and your family living life together. your kitchen doesn't need to look like a williams-sonoma ad. heck, you don't even have to do your dishes. so, leave a comment by sunday, august 1st at midnight and i'll randomly choose a winner for a FREE photo shoot!. the only rule is that you all have to live in the same house.
travel expenses will apply if you live outside of the charlotte area.
